Hey! I’m Kaila Boudewyn, LMHC and EMDR trained therapist. 

I became a therapist because, honestly, everything is hard, and I know the difference between trying to muddle through it alone vs. with someone who understands and values you by your side.

Many of us have never truly felt heard or properly understood. Sometimes we hold back with others because we feel like the person across from us can’t handle seeing our soul. My favorite thing is to watch how people come into themselves when they feel like it’s safe to. 

Life is so overwhelming sometimes. We have too many standards to meet just to stay alive and get what we need.

 

There are never enough hours to get it all done and when there is, there’s not enough motivation. Many of us have ugly family patterns we’re trying to somehow break free from, but it feels almost impossible because something old takes over in moments of conflict. And what about all the things we can’t control, which in reality is basically everything. Throw in a little exhaustion over trying to solve and evade life’s existential unknowns and the moments of failure or embarrassment that play on a film reel in our head and…whew…things can easily start to feel way too big.

I know anxiety, perfectionism and feeling stuck by your past intimately, because I too, have lived it. Which is what allows me to understand what you mean when you talk of your pain and help guide you through the chaos of it all a little more sure-footedly.

What therapy is like with me

Being human is awfully complex and complicated, and sometimes, we are just not able to be our best selves or live our lives as fully as we deserve. People suffer in all sorts of ways and however you suffer, your pain is valid. I’m here to help you step into your life and occupy your body and experiences more fully. I know what it’s like to sit on both sides of the therapy room and I know how scary and embarrassing it can feel at times. Because of this, I try to remove as much shame as possible for my clients and create an atmosphere between us that lets you know you will not be judged. I specialize in trauma and anxiety resolution techniques, like EMDR, but I think the most important thing is first creating a good vibe in the room. I want therapy to feel like you’re talking to an old friend over coffee, not like you’re sitting in a stuffy medical room being analyzed. I love working with other artists and creatives, and I especially love helping people find their worth and power.
