Anxiety Treatment in Downtown, Saint Pete Florida

Do you avoid things you love to do, friends or big events in your life because of feeling anxious, panic or "stuck in your head?"

  • Has sleep been rough lately because your brain keeps replaying the same worries, doubts and fears over and over?

  • Do you wake up feeling wrecked and exhausted by facing a new day again with a mind full of anxiety?

  • You distant, stuck in your head and avoidant, always replaying the “wrong” thing you said yesterday.

Life feels like a series of hurdles to get through, and you just can’t seem to feel happy, relaxed or like your real self anymore. There's barely enough time trying to work on your career, be a good friend, work on passions, be a good partner, and you might feel guilty for wanting to take any time for yourself. It feels like you're trapped in the constant cycle of expectations and business, overthinking and overwhelm.

Anxiety is Common but not easy

You’re Not Alone

According to the National Alliance on Mental Health (NAMI), “Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health concern in the United States. An estimated 40 million adults in the U.S. (18%) have an anxiety disorder. Most people develop symptoms before age 21.” This statistic is about people who have looked for and engaged with treatment. The real number of people in the US that have an anxiety disorder is probably much higher.

Anxiety Can Wreak Havoc on Your Physical Health

As anxiety shows up in your daily life more and more, you may start to feel your body is always clenched or tight. You can also experience difficulty sleeping, increased sweating, nausea, increased heartburn or a racing heart rate. These upsetting physical symptoms can leave you feeling claustrophobic and like you’re constantly on the verge of a panic attack.

Those Around You May Not Understand

In order to avoid your anxiety triggers, you may start shutting yourself off from social events, close friends, career events or things you've always wanted to try. You constantly worry about being a burden to your partner, but when you try to explain yourself, it's hard for them to understand. You try and "just get through it" because you don't want to hurt or let down the people in your life. You burn yourself out trying to live up to the expectations you think other people have of you.

Friends, family or your partner are giving advice all the time, but "calm down", "just be positive" or "have you tried exercise?" has left you feeling completely misunderstood and without an ally.

You want to know why you feel the way you do. Where did this anxiety come from and what can i actually do about it? . You want to find the freedom to show up to your life and be the person you know you are without anxiety stopping you.

People think that their anxiety is just an unavoidable part of life

Everyone can have a low level of anxiety sometimes. Work stress, moving, illness, breakups are all associated with increased anxiety. The pressure of trying to be a good parent, the expectation to workout, have a good body, be successful, and eat right, and the feeling that everyone’s happiness depends on your actions can feel crushing to live with. All of this takes a toll on your happiness and well being

Not to mention, in the age of social media, that pressure is harder than ever to avoid. We see our friends “perfect curated” lives on Facebook or Instagram and can’t help but feel like we are trailing behind on having the life we want.

Normal Anxiety Vs Chronic Anxiety

A little anxiety is normal and comes with life, it becomes a problem when it starts preventing you from being the person you want to be or living the life you want to live.

Usually, anxiety doesn't get better on its own. No one ever taught us how to manage anxiety in a way that doesn't make it worse. Trying to avoid things and situations that make you anxious actually makes you more anxious. The downward spiral of avoidance and anxiety begins again and again. This can make it all too common for adults with anxiety to treat the symptoms instead of working out the root cause of the symptoms.

As a therapist, I’ve seen how anxiety can get in the way of living a full, meaningful, thriving life. I’ve also seen how powerful it can be to have the support and guidance of an expert. I have over 10 years of experience with anxiety treatment. I can help you develop the skills you need to break through anxity and life a full, happy, healthy life.

We’ve got You

Types of anxiety treatment we offer

  • ACCEPTANCE AND COMMITMENT THERAPY (ACT)

This approach works by first helping you get very clear on who you want to be in the world and what you want your life to be like. This therapeutic method then provides a tool box of cutting edge skills and techniques to help you detach from problematic repetitive thinking, render intense emotions harmless and to get you closer to the best version of your life.

  • EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION REPROCESSING (EMDR)

Is a proven approach designed to re-train your brain’s response to anxiety triggers. EMDR can help get to the root of stress, trauma, and phobias. This is done by targeting whatever’s underneath or causing the anxiety. The goal is to reduce the power that triggers have and alter your beliefs about anxiety at a subconscious level.

  • MINDFULNESS-BASED COGNITIVE THERAPY:

Helps show you how to live in the present instead of thinking so far ahead. Through the use of mindfulness techniques, like body centering and breathing and relaxation methods, you can learn to focus on what’s happening in the moment. As a result, you will feel relax enough to be able to address what’s in front of you. You will develop more insight about where you hold tension in your body so you can recognize stress and alleviate anxiety before they become overwhelming or lead to a panic attack. You will learn and practice easy to remember mindfulness techniques that have been shown to strengthen the parts of your brain that are responsible for calming and soothing anxiety. This will eventually make your brain more anxiety proof without even trying.

  • COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT)

Helps address the “why” behind negative thinking patterns and behaviors, and how they influence your reaction to stressful situations. This therapeutic method can help you challenge negative thoughts and change the way you view the world and your place in it.
